Dr. Syed Faheem Shams

Dr. Syed Faheem Shams, MBBS, MD (Psychiatry) is a Consultant Psychiatrist and Associate Professor & Head of the Department of Psychiatry at Uttara Adhunik Medical College and Hospital, Dhaka. With over 23 years of experience in psychiatry, he has extensive experience in clinical practice, medical education, research, and mental health awareness.

He completed his MBBS from Jahurul Islam Medical College and Hospital, University of Dhaka, and MD in Psychiatry from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). He also completed a Psychiatry Fellowship Certificate Course with the Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology, Nagoya, Japan.

Dr. Shams is an International Associate of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK, an International Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, USA, and a Life Member of the Bangladesh Association of Psychiatrists. He is also a Life Fellow of the Bangladesh Medical Association and is registered with the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council.

Alongside his clinical responsibilities, he is actively involved in teaching, mentoring, research, professional development, and mental health awareness initiatives. He has contributed to peer-reviewed research and publications in psychiatry and related medical fields.

His professional approach focuses on providing evidence-based, individualized, and compassionate psychiatric care while contributing to the advancement of psychiatric education and mental health services.
